My story is one of perseverance, faith and how the grace of God has kept me. Raised by grandparents who instilled principles and values in me. I knew education was not an option. My grandparents made that clear. However, arriving in Canada at the age of 13, not knowing my mother proved to be difficult. I left home shortly after arriving to Canada from my birth country Jamaica as my mother was abusive to me. I found myself in places no young girl my age should’ve been.
Caught up on the wrong side of the law, being a single mom and having to spend my nights in a strip-club to make ends meet, to being held at gun point by someone wanting the money that I just hustled to feed my kids; I was deemed a right off. Called a good for nothing and worthless by my aunt. Spat on by own mother who wished my death. Thoughts of suicide plagued me. But God kept me. My life was never suppose to carry on.
I was never supposed to be a lawyer, an entrepreneur, an author, a home owner, 3 degrees later, including a masters and currently on a PHD, no that was never supposed to be!
Yet, I was worthy enough for God to make whole, worthy enough to be redeemed and precious enough to be given his grace. My life is truly one of perseverance and certainly a destiny fulfilled by grace!
